Principal's Message

Welcome to Vernon City Elementary School home of the Soaring Eagles!

Vernon City Elementary is a unique treasure in the heart of the industrial City Of Vernon. It is the home to approximately 260 students in grades TK-6.  At Vernon City we provide students opportunities to develop their potential intellectually, socially and emotionally.   We provide students with a rigorous academic educational program to ensure all students reach maximum potential and opportunity.  Vernon city provides students with a strong foundation for continued success.

The Common Core Standards (CCSS)  are  a state-led effort designed to improve educational outcomes for students.  These standards are relevant to the real world and reflect the knowledge students need to be successful in college and the workplace.  The standards require students to think, work, and produce at a higher level.  To ensure the achievement of these curricular standards, instructional strategies will continue to be built upon.  Professional Development for teachers is ongoing to provide students with optimal opportunities.  This year our focus is on Quality and Purposeful Questioning across the curriculum.  Teachers will continue to work collaboratively to provide our students with Purpose: creating a community of voices and actualizing agency for stakeholders + Pathway:  Developing choices that enact optimal opportunities for A-G achievements + Personalization:  Organizing access for all learners to achieve locally and globally = Prepared: Accomplished and prepared for graduation, college, career, and civic engagement.

I look forward to a successful  year of working closely with students, parents and staff to support academic progress for every student!
